Our friends at the PERYCLES consortium hosted an intensive one-day workshop at the University of Bucharest to tackle the big questions surrounding Digital Democracy and Inclusivity.

The event brought together a mix of researchers and practitioners to explore everything from liquid democracy and online citizens' assemblies to the role of AI and "avatarobots" in modern governance. The workshop also featured a high-level roundtable opened by Victor Negrescu, Vice-President of the European Parliament, focusing on the real-world opportunities and challenges of digital democracy tools.
Why we’re attending

Digital democracy doesn’t happen in a vacuum. By collaborating with fellow Horizon Europe projects like PERYCLES, we are ensuring that INNOVADE’s tools are built on a foundation of shared knowledge and diverse European perspectives. This workshop was a fantastic opportunity to align our research with other cutting-edge initiatives working toward a more inclusive digital public sphere.

Our very own Xenia Klinge (DFKI) took the stage to present the research and surveys that went into writing the Digital Democracy Preference Toolkit, sharing what citizens and policymakers actually expect from digital participation mechanisms. These findings are crucial for ensuring that the tools we build, in particular the Digital Democracy App, can be useful and usable for citizens and decision-makers.
